From world traveler to young father
Steven Beyers, a therapist and new father, and creative director Emiel Raeymaekers, joined forces to found Fungtional. Steven spent 8 years traveling through Asia, South America, and Europe, always looking for new ways to achieve mental and physical improvement naturally. He has a background in Shiatsu, bodywork, indigenous plant medicines, and has always been fascinated by mushrooms. With the arrival of his daughter, everything changed. He settled back in Antwerp, where he suddenly faced short nights, the pressure of a full-time job, and the mental fatigue that so many people experience. He personally experienced how stress, lack of energy, and mental exhaustion can affect daily life.
